About this site

Awrad Al-Sammaniya is a digital library, open to everyone, read on a phone or a desktop — no account, no subscription, no advertising.

About the project

The aim is to give these texts a settled place that can be relied upon, taken from their printed originals rather than from a copy of a copy. Where a text could be published as trustworthy text it is, searchable and navigable; where it could not, the pages of the original are shown exactly as they were printed, with nothing guessed and nothing added.

The text was transcribed from the printed original page by page, and nothing in it was altered without returning to that original. Where a reading could not be established with certainty it is marked for scholars to review rather than corrected on our own authority. The work is still under review, and corrections are welcome.

About the contents

The library brings together a selection of the awrād, aḥzāb, prayers, mawlids and inherited texts associated with the Sammaniya order, in a digital form that makes them easy to read and to reach.

It holds several sections — among them Sirr al-Asrār, Ḥizb al-Amān, the Mawlids, Jāmiʿ al-Awrād and the supplications — and both the collection and the material in it continue to grow.

The texts themselves are in Arabic. These are devotional works, and translating them is the task of a qualified scholar rather than of this website; an English translation will appear here when one has been made and checked.
